COVID-19 in India: Less than 3 lakh cases reported in the last 24 hours; daily positivity rate stands at 15.52 per cent

New Delhi: India reported less than 3 lakh cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday — 2,55,874 new cases (50,190 fewer than yesterday), 614 deaths, and 2,67,753 recoveries. 

A single-day rise of 2,55,874 COVID-19 infections and 614 deaths has brought India’s COVID-19 case count to 3,97,99,202 and the death toll to 4,90,462.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country has increased to 22,36,842, according to the Union Health Ministry. The daily positivity rate is 15.52 per cent and the weekly positivity rate is 17.17 per cent.

As the number of cases of the third wave of the pandemic has begun to decline in seven states and territories, several others are seeing a slowdown in the surge, according to weekly data. 

During the last 24 hours, there were also 2,67,753 recoveries reported. COVID’s recovery rate stands at 93.15 percent, bringing the total number of patients recovered from the virus to 3,70,71,898.

There were 16,49,108 tests performed in the last 24 hours, which is 1,74,355 more than on Monday. As of now, 162.92 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive.
