Sports hub in Gajwel by next year: SATS chief

Hyderabad: A state-of-the-art sports hub in 20 acres will be built in Gajwel for which the foundation stone will be laid in February, revealed Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy, on Friday.
The Sports hub, which will be called Gajwel Sports Village, will have football ground, athletics synthetic turf, volleyball, kabaddi, handball, wrestling, boxing, archery, shooting, gymnastics, badminton, swimming pool, hockey turf ground, tennis ground and cycling tracks at the premises. The documents pertaining to the 20 acres have been handed over to the SATS officials.
The facilities will be built by next year, according to Venkathwar Reddy. He further revealed that a football tournament will be held from February 16 and on February 17, Minister Harish Rao, along with Vanteru Pratap Reddy, the Telangana Forest Development Corporation chairman, will lay the foundation stone for the works.
