Lucknow: The opinion poll results of the Times Now-VETO survey has projected the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win a second successive term in Uttar Pradesh with a vastly reduced majority. The results of the survey were released two days before the first round of polling in UP elections 2022 on February 10. The western parts of Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls in the first phase.

The incumbent BJP is expected to win 222-234 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh elections 2022, Samajwadi Party and its alliance partners are projected to bag 138-160 segments, Mayawati led-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 11-16, Congress 8-9 and Others 2-6.

The respondents of the Times Now-VETO survey said that the BJP may bag around 50-51 Assembly segments in western Uttar Pradesh which is considered to be the stronghold of the saffron party. In central Uttar Pradesh, BJP may wrest 20-21 Assembly segments, SP= 11-15, BSP 0-1 and Congress 1-2 seats.

In Awadh regions, the saffron unit seems to have a stronghold as the respondents of the Times Now-VETO survey said BJP will win around 61-64 Assembly seats in the upcoming UP elections 2022, while the SP may end up winning 29-34 seats. The BSP and Congress seem to be not in th the race as they are expected to win only 2-3 and 1 seat respectively.

BJP is expected to get 42 per cent of the total votes, SP+ 34 per cent, BSP 12 per cent Congress 8 per cent and Others 4 per cent in the Ruhellhand region, the survey said.
