New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers later today. Omicron, deliberation on the postponement of Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other states are among key issues that are likely to be discussed during the Council of Ministers meeting today. According to reports, the meeting is likely to take place by 4 pm. All the ministers are expected to attend the Council meeting.
As reported earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking stock of Omicron status in the country. The Centre has previously issued guidelines to states and Union Territories to intensify testing and ensure implementation of COVID-19 protocols in states/ UTs.
Earlier this week, the Election Commission also held a meeting with the concerned officials about the likely postponement of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other states. Another meeting is scheduled to be held on January 22.
