In 2017, Congress had emerged as the single largest party, winning 28 out of 60 seats, followed by the BJP which had secured 21 seats. The Congress had dispatched three observers to Manipur to oversee the post-poll scenario earlier this week. The party assigned T.S. Singhdeo (a senior minister in the Chhattisgarh government), Vincent Pala and Mukul Wasnik. Manipur Election 2022: Counting of votes to begin at 8:00 am

According to Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Agrawal, counting will start at 8:00 am with postal ballots in 41 counting halls at 12 counting centres. This will be succeeded by EVM counting from 8:30 am onwards. Proper security measures including the imposition of Section 144 CrPC around the counting centres have been undertaken to ensure that the counting is conducted smoothly.
