Hyderabad: Telangana Association of United (TAUK), a non-profit organization, promoting Telangana culture in the UK, celebrated International Women’s Day in London on Wednesday. Over 100 women Non-Resident Indians and Indian community organisation representatives from across the UK attended the event.
TAUK Vice President Sushmuna Reddy, thanked the president Ratnakar Kadudula for his co-operation and encouragement in organizing the event and appreciated the efforts of other women leaders, who worked hard to make celebrations a success.
Talking about how today’s women are on the rise in all walks of life, she said that women will excel in all fields only when they take advantage of the opportunities that come their way and take every opportunity as a challenge.
TAUK General Secretary Jahnavi Dusari said the celebration of Women’s Day by more than a hundred women was the first of its kind. She thanked Telangana government for its efforts towards women care and welfare; to bring women quota in local bodies, giving opportunities for women to be mayors and municipal chairpersons.
Vijitha Reddy Duggampudi, in-charge of the Women’s Women’s Cell, said that women are making amazing strides against men, in today’s society and described International Women’s Day as a global celebration of women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements.
A variety of games were organised, with prizes for the winners, as well as a variety of dishes were brought by the women. Kranti Retineni, TAUK Women’s Cell Secretary concluded the event with a salutation.
