190 TSWREIS students secure MBBS seats

Hyderabad: The students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) have created history by securing MBBS seats in the recently concluded first round of medical counseling. A total of 190 students have secured admission in medical colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, TSWREIS secretary, Ronald Rose, said that the State government”s initiative to help these students has resulted in this remarkable achievement. “The entire credit goes to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, and Scheduled Caste Development Department Minister Koppula Eeshwar, for sanctioning funds for conducting NEET coaching on par with the corporate institutions,” he said.
One of the students, B Saani from Gowlidoddi College has got a seat in Gandhi Medical College is the son of a sanitation worker and a labourer. “My father is a sanitation worker and mother is a labourer in Husnabad, Karimnagar. If not for the free NEET coaching, I wouldn’t have dreamt of preparing for the NEET exam. I want to become a nephrologist and want to be remembered as a poor people’s doctor,” he shared.
Hyderabad Newsclick here for more Hyderabad NewsAnother TSWREIS student, Spandana, who hails from Cherlapalem village in Mahabubabad district, has secured admission in Osmania Medical College. She thanked her teachers and said, “I am thrilled beyond my words at the thought of becoming a doctor.”
Neha, who lost her father at a very young age, wants to help the needy people after she becomes a doctor. “My mother is a daily wage labourer, from Singotam village, Nagarkurnool district. She struggled a lot to educate me, and I am happy to secure a seat in Kakatiya Medical College,” she shared.
In the last six years, 513 marginalised students from TSWREIS have been selected in medical colleges.
