Alluring Bhadrakali foreshore bund receives overwhelming response from visitors

Warangal: The beauty of Bhadrakali Foreshore Bund, a geo-biodiversity park developed in Warangal city, has become a major hit among the city dwellers. It is not only attracting the locals, but also visitors from the different parts of the State including Hyderabad.
During the week-ends, holidays and festivals, the surrounding of the Bhadrakali Lake are teeming with visitors who are revelling in the serene atmosphere in the middle of the city.  Impressed visitors are saying that they were bewitched by the beauty of the theme park developed at the historic Bhadrakali Lake. The place is also the abode of the Goddess Bhadrakali which attracts pilgrims from various parts of the country.

The park has now become a place for taking selfies and photo-shoots. People are seen visiting the park with the family members.

A young lady from Bhupalpally, Neha, said that she along with her friends had come to the park from her hometown just to see the park.
Though there is no publicity from the Kakatiya Urban Development (KUDA), which developed this park with Rs 31 crore funds under which executed the project under the Centre’s the flagship programme, Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) HRIDAY and other funds, is attracting more people ever since it was thrown open to public on September 27 this year. Though the officials expected around 800 to 1,000 people per day to visit the place, the number of the visitors is  3,000 (average) per day on week-days and 6,000 per day on the week-ends.  As the KUDA is collecting Rs 30 per adult and Rs 20 per child as entrance fee, it has already achieved the break-even point in terms of cash flow.  The increased footfall is encouraging the KUDA officials to make some ‘add-ons’ to the project like boating in the Lake.

This 1.1 km long foreshore bund was constructed with amenities like green colonnades, open-air gym, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM)-made walking track, playing area, integrated landscape lighting, parking, among other facilities, to provide a memorable experience complemented by the picturesque lakefront. The KUDA authorities took care of reflecting architectural elegance of the Kakatiya era gateways, sculptural focal points and others at the park. The rubberized walking track built with international standards  is impressing everyone, while play areas are attracting the children.

Meanwhile, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is developing another 2.2 km long bund under the Smart City Mission (SCM) project.
