Assam students return from Ukraine in Delhi, many still stranded

Thirteen students of Assam have returned to Delhi from Ukraine. The students have been evacuated with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and they arrived in Delhi at 02:15 pm. Guwahati: Thirteen students of Assam have returned to Delhi from Ukraine on Tuesday, March 1. The students have been evacuated with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and they arrived in Delhi at 02:15 pm. They were received by the officials from the Assam Bhawan in New Delhi. The students will be staying in Assam House, New Delhi and air travel from Delhi to Guwahati will be arranged accordingly.A total of 13 students returned from Ukraine on March 1. They are: Hirock Jyoti Deka, Anmol Shekhar Das, Anamika Baishya, Manjur Alam, Samadrita Hazarika, Manisha Wahid, Manisha Baishya, Alibhia Rajmedhi, Farmi Nashrin Sultana, Pratiksha Gogoi, Karina Borah, Udangshree Basumatary and Bastobika Das.The rescue efforts of the stranded students of India, as well as Assam, have been ongoing ever since the breakout of the Russia and Ukraine war.As per the list of information available to the Assam government, over 160 students from Assam had been stranded in Ukraine. So far, 28 of them have returned as on March 1. A majority of them have been pursuing medical sciences in the country. The students are spread across Assam with the highest from the Kamrup Metro district with 59 students. Nalbari, Morigaon, and Darrang are the second-highest districts with nine students each.Many students are still stranded in the war-torn Ukraine whereas some of the students are stranded in neighboring countries of Ukraine such as Poland and Romania. They are temporarily staying in rescue shelters made for the people who are trying to return back to India.
