New Delhi: 1000 ‘Made-in-India’ drones dazzled the Delhi sky as part of the Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk on Saturday.

The drones made different formations as part of the Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk.

The drone show has been organised by startup ‘Botlab Dynamics’ and supported by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and the Department of Science and Technology.

With this, India has now become the fourth country all over the world after UK, Russia and China to light up 1,000 drones in the sky.

The 10-minute long drone show commemorated 75 years of Independence, which is being celebrated as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and has been conceptualised, designed, produced and choreographed under the Union government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The Beating the Retreat ceremony commenced with synchronised performances of bands of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received President Ram Nath Kovind ahead of the ceremony while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Prime Minister at the event.

A total of 26 performances enthralled the spectators with foot-tapping music by the bands.

The entry band will be Massed Band playing the ‘Veer Sainik’ tune followed by Pipes and Drums Band, CAPF Band, Air Force Band, Naval Band, Army Military Band and Massed Bands.

The principal conductor of the ceremony will be Commander Vijay Charles D’Cruz.

A number of new tunes have been added to the ceremony to celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and these include ‘Kerala’, ‘Hind ki Sena’ and ‘Ae Mere WatanKe Logon’.

The event came to an end with the tune of ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’.
