Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections today: Triangular contest between BJP, Congress, AAP

Chandigarh: The voting for Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections will be held on Friday. The polls have been a contest between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, but with Aam Aadmi Party’s entry, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls this time will witness a three-cornered contest.

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation election results will be declared on December 27.

About 6.3 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation election 2021. Of the total, three lakh women are eligible to cast votes.

To ensure smooth polling, all necessary arrangements, including adequate security have been put in place. Around 3,000 policemen will be deployed for pol dury to enforce tight security arrangements.

203 candidates are trying their luck in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections. The polling will be held from 7:30 am to 5 pm.

Currently, the BJP holds majority in the current House. In the last Municipal Corporation elections, the saffron party had won 20 seats and its erstwhile ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) managed only one. Congress had bagged only four seats.
