City’s watering holes — Cock & Bull, Fat Pigeon, RIKA and The
Sanctuary Bar & Kitchen —make it to top 50 best bars list.
Hyderabad: Four of the city’s popular watering holes — Cock & Bull, Fat Pigeon, RIKA and The Sanctuary Bar & Kitchen — have made it to a list of top 50 best bars in the country compiled by Tulleeho, a provider of beverage education, training and consulting services.
The list also includes some of the most famous bars across the country, including The Bombay Canteen, Mumbai; The Daily All, Pune; Miguels, Goa; Whiskey Samba, Gurgaon; Terra Maya, Guwahati; Sly Granny, Bengaluru; and The Junction, Kolkata.
An interesting mix of cities feature in the 50 best bars list. New Delhi and Bengaluru lead the way with nine and eight bars respectively. Mumbai and Goa follow with seven bars each, Kolkata with six, Chennai and Hyderabad with four, while Gurgaon and Pune have three. Jaipur and Guwahati also feature on the list, with one bar each.
Speaking about the parameters for the rankings, Vikram Achanta, Founder and CEO, Tulleeho, said the lists were based on votes cast by a jury of 200 bar enthusiasts and industry experts spread across 10 cities in the country.
“We have given various parameters where the jurors can rate a specific bar. A great bar is typically defined by great hospitality, their cocktail and drink programme, a good bar team and bartenders and the bar design and ambience. So, these are also some of the key parameters based on which we have ranked these bars,” he said.
The bars listed in the top 50 will now compete for a place in the top 30 best bars in the country.
Besides the best bars, the organisation is also working on compiling a list of best hotel bars, best restaurant bars, best independent bars, best microbreweries or taprooms, best cocktail menus and best bar designs. A special technical jury of 25 industry professionals also voted for two additional categories – best bar team and best bartender.
