The Gorakhpur Urban and the Karhal assembly constituencies are among the two high-profile assembly seats. Notably, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is contesting from the Gorakhpur Urban seat, while Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting from the Karhal seat. As per the latest trends, CM Yogi and Yadav are leading in their respective constituencies.The Gorakhpur Urban seat went to the polls on March 3 in the sixth phase of UP assembly elections. Yogi Adityanath faced a challenge from Samajwadi Party’s Subavati Shukla and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad. The Uttar Pradesh CM is contesting his first assembly elections. This seat falls under the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency and is a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. Yadav is contesting against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate SP Singh Baghel. The Congress fielded Gyanvati Yadav from Karhal. The voting for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls took place in seven phases – February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3, and 7. There are a total of 403 assembly seats in the state. The contest is between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party. The exit polls released on March 7 predicted a clear majority for the BJP. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party is expected to be the second-largest party in the state.Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the assembly elections results will also be declared for Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur.
