Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday took custody of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar, who is lodged in Thane jail, in connection with an alleged money laundering case.

The probe agency had recently registered a money laundering case against Dawood Ibrahim, the 1993 Mumbai blasts mastermind, and his aides for their involvement in financing terror activities and disrupting the law and order situation across the country.

Kaskar will be produced before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court that had issued a production warrant against him on February 16, PTI quoted officials as saying.

This came after the ED conducted raids on February 15 in Mumbai into the operations of the underworld, linked alleged illegal property deals and hawala transactions.

Kaskar and his associates were arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act on October 24, 2017. Since then, he has been lodged in Thane jail in connection with multiple cases of alleged extortion.
