Indian embassy in Romania issues hotline number for evacuated citizens still in Bucharest

The Indian embassy in Romania on Friday issued a hotline number for Indians, who have come from war-hit Ukraine and are still in its capital city Bucharest, to contact for the evacuation. In a tweet, the embassy asked the stranded Indians in Romania to get in touch for evacuation by flights leaving for India in the next two days. “Indian students who are still in Bucharest may please get in touch with the Embassy on hotline number +40 725964976 for evacuation by flights leaving in the next two days,” it tweeted.

Meanwhile, a special flight from Romania carrying 219 Indian nationals from Ukraine reached Delhi on Friday. The special flight under ‘Operation Ganga’ had departed from Bucharest on Thursday. Of these, 3,500 persons are expected to be brought back on Friday and more than 3900 on March 5, the ministry said. The evacuation began after Russian forces launched military operations in Ukraine on February 24. The military operation was launched three days after Moscow recognized Ukraine’s breakaway regions – Donetsk and Luhansk – as independent entities.
