Karimnagar to be developed into beautiful city: Gangula Kamalakar

Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said on Monday that Karimnagar would be developed into a beautiful city that its residents would be proud of. “Karimnagar got Smart City status only because of the initiatives of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,” he said.
The Minister, along with Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, held a review meeting with officials to discuss the progress of Karimnagar Smart City works at the Collectorate conference hall here. He instructed the officials to continue with the developmental works without giving causing any inconvenience to the people.
Stating that development of the city was delayed following the model code of conduct enforced due to the Huzurabad by-poll and MLC elections, he asked the officials to take up road expansion works and lay new roads without compromising on the quality with the cooperation of the people.

Make arrangements for pedestrians to walk on pavements. To implement it, both police and municipal officials should work in tandem,” Kamalakar said.
Stating that digging for cable works should not be taken up on newly laid roads, the Minister warned contractors with serious action if they dig roads indiscriminately and without getting permission from municipal and R and B officials.
To ensure the city roads are clean, it is necessary to sweep roads regularly with sweeping machines, he said, and advised officials to take steps to shift roadside vegetable and fruit vendors to Rythu Bazars.
The Minister instructed the officials to construct more vegetable markets since the population of the city was going up each year. He advised authorities to take steps to modernize Kashmirgadda Rythu Bazar and allocate sheds constructed behind the district headquarters bus stand to vegetable vendors.
He also instructed officials to fast-track smart city works at Tower Circle so that the business community will not face problems. Instructing officials to finish park works in college grounds by February 14 next, he wanted the officials to start pending work by January first week.
Shadikhana, R and B guest house, Kalabharathi auditorium, Ambekdar Bhavan, MLA camp office, and double bedroom houses taken up with DMFT funds should be completed as early as possible.
He directed the officials to complete the drainage in Ganeshnagar bypass road, smart city road from Ambedkar Stadium to Kattarampur on fast track mode. Besides dumping yard, package-1, 2, 3 works should be completed on fast track mode.
Ths Minister said vegetable markets should be developed in two places including the dairy farm and RTC workshop. Mutton and chicken markets would be modernized.
Both walking and cycling tracks proposed to develop for a distance of two kilometers from the Lake police station should be completed as early as possible. The Minister appreciated the district administration for securing first place in the State in administering the first dose of Covid vaccine to 100 per cent of the population the second dose to 86 per cent. In the wake of the spread of Omicron, people should be alert and follow Covid norms and wear face masks and maintain physical distancing.
Collector RV Karnan, Deputy Mayor Challa Swaruparani, municipal commissioner Islavath Naik, RDO Anand Kumar, DCP S Srinivas and others participated in the review meeting.
