Motorcycles on subsidy for construction labourers in Telangana

Hyderabad: The TRS government, known for its innovative welfare initiatives for various sectors, has come up with a novel scheme for construction workers – motorcycles on subsidy.
In the first phase, one lakh beneficiaries would be given motorcycles on subsidy. Guidelines of the scheme would soon be formulated by the government, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said here in the State Assembly on Monday, announcing an allocation of Rs 511.38 crore for Labour and Employment department.

Referring to the welfare of Singareni employees and profit sharing, he said post State formation, the profit share given to the employees of Singareni had increased from 18 per cent to 29 per cent. Due to this, between 2014 to 2020, a total of Rs.1,546.59 crore was given to the workers as part of their share of profits.
The retirement age for workers too was enhanced to 61 years. Due to simplification of the dependent employment scheme, a total number of 11,888 employees have been benefited. Singareni has introduced a scheme to provide an interest free loan of Rs.10 lakh to its employees.
For the benefit of employees who have actively participated in the movement for the formation of the State, the government gave a special increment. A historic 43 per cent fitment was given. In spite of a heavy hit on the State finances due to Covid, the government has always taken measures aimed at employee welfare.
As per the expectations of employees, the government has given a fitment of 30 per cent under the new PRC and has implemented the new pay scales. “We are proud to announce that today the employees of Telangana are amongst the highest paid in the country. Along with the State government employees, the government has given 30 per cent enhancement to all the contract and outsourcing staff also,” he said.
Even the home guards, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers and other staff were also given a hike of 30 per cent.
