Timings of COVID vaccination centres flexible, can stay open till 10 pm: Centre to states, UTs

The Centre on Monday conveyed to states and UTs that no time limit has been set for the operationalisation of COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (CVS), and that they can operate until 10 pm daily depending on human resources and infrastructure. Additional secretary in the Union Health Ministry, Manohar Agnani, said in a letter to states and UTs that there was a perception that CVCS could only operate between 8 am and 8 pm. “In this regard, it is to reiterate that no time limit has been set for the operationalisation of the CVCs. The session timings are subject to the demand and the requirement at a particular CVC. In case of increased demand, it is advised that multiple teams may be arranged at each CVC to cater to the need.” Read More

Restaurants, bars in Delhi closed amid rising COVID-19 cases, takeaway facility from eateries to continue

As COVID-19 cases continue to increase, restaurants and bars in the national capital will now remain closed. The decision was taken today during a Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting. Following the discussions, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said that only takeaway facilities would now be available. 

While the national capital will avoid a complete lockdown, for the time being, authorities are also mulling further restrictions such as scaling down seating capacity in Metro trains and buses.

The DDMA meeting chaired by Baijal was also attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. It was also discussed in the DDMA meeting that restrictions imposed in Delhi should also be imposed in National Capital Territory Region to prevent the rise in cases. Read More

CCI to ask app makers for Google payment policy, wants suggestion on alternative payment mechanism

Domestic stocks closed higher tracking global cues with the Nifty50 barometer ending the day above the psychological 18,000 mark for the first time since November 17, 2021. After a gap-up opening on Monday morning, the momentum was carried forward towards the end. The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex closed 650 points or 1.09% higher at 60,396 levels while its NSE counterpart CNX Nifty50 index settled at 18,003.30 level, with an increase of 190 points or 1.07% from Friday’s closing level. NCW writes to DGP Maharashtra to take action against actor Siddharth for comments on Saina Nehwal

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has urged DGB Maharashtra to take action against actor Siddharth’s tweet against badminton star Saina Nehwal. The commission condemned the ‘lewd and inappropriate’ remarks made by the actor and claimed his tweet invited Section 354A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 of the Informational Technology (IT) act. Nehwal claimed that she is not sure what Siddharth meant and he could have expressed himself using better words.
