Hyderabad: At least 1,549 eligible candidates are already reaping the benefits of Dalit Bandhu, the flagship programme of the TRS government, in Huzurabad Assembly constituency, SC Development and Minority Welfare Koppula Eshwar announced on Thursday. “Dalit Bandhu is a revolutionary scheme which will change the socio-economic conditions of the SCs in the State forever,” he said.
The Minister said enrollment of girl students from the minority communities had increased from 18 per cent to 42 per cent under the TRS government.
Replying to the legislators on budget demands for SC Development and Minority Welfare departments in the State Assembly here, Eshwar said the TRS government had found permanent solutions to several problems prevailing in the State and also set new benchmarks in welfare and development activities for other States. “Despite the Centre not extending any support, Telangana is making rapid strides in development and welfare,” he added.
He assured the members that the State government would release the arrears pertaining to SC and minority scholarships as well as dues related to Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubharak schemes soon. He said the proposals for construction of permanent buildings for residential welfare schools was under the consideration of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, and blamed successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh for the pathetic condition of SCs in the State.
Responding to AIMIM MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri and Congress floor leader Bhatti Vikramarka, the Minister said about 945 acres of land belonging to Wakf Board that had been encroached upon were recovered legally and 150 sale deeds were cancelled. The District Wakf Protection Committees also were being constituted for protection of Wakf lands, apart from imposing a ban on registration of Wakf lands. He stated that the budget allocations have been increased for the minority welfare from Rs 1,606 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 1,728 crore this fiscal.
