New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, on Friday, said that the people of Uttar Pradesh will reply to the bullets with ballots. Speaking in Lok Sabha a day after his vehicle was fired upon in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, Owaisi said that ‘he was not scared of those firing the bullets’. Owaisi also rejected the reported proposal to provide a Z category security to him in light of the incident.

“Who are these people who believe in bullets and not the ballot. I do not want to politicize the matter. But if this is what politics has come to, how did these people get radicalized? Those people who have radicalized these individuals, why is the UAPA not being slapped against them? I do not want Z category security. I want to live a free life. I cannot live a suffocated life,” he said in the Lower House of the Parliament.

Home Minister Amit Shah to give reply in Parliament

Replying to Owaisi’s statement, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak in the House on the matter on Monday. “On 7th February, Union Home Minister Amit Shah (in file pic) will give a detailed reply in Parliament on the incident of firing on AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s car in Uttar Pradesh,” Goyal said.

As reported earlier, Owaisi’s vehicle was attacked at a toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the matter and have been sent to custody. Following the attack, the Union Home Ministry proposed to provide a Z category security to the Hyderabad MP.  “I don’t fear death. I don’t want Z category security, I reject it; make me an ‘A’ category citizen. I’ll not remain silent. Please do justice,” Owaisi said.
