PM Modi Chairs 3rd High-level Meet on Ukraine, Says Govt Working Round-the-Clock to Ensure Indians’ Safety

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired another high-level meeting on the Ukrain situation on Monday, the third-such urgent meeting being presided over by the PM in the last 48 hours as tension escalated between Russia and its southern neighbour. At the meeting, PM Modi said that the “entire government machinery is working round-the-clock to ensure that all Indians there are safe and secure”.The prime minister also pointed out that the visit by four Union ministers to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries will provide the much-needed impetus to the evacuation efforts. “It is reflective of the priority the Government attaches to this matter,” according to a statement.PM @narendramodi chaired a high level meet,his second today,to review the ongoing efforts under #OperationGanga to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine.PM said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all Indians there are safe & secure.— Arindam Bagchi (@MEAIndia) February 28, 2022Modi, who was reviewing the evacuation efforts under Operation Ganga at the meeting, further said that India will extend help to neighbouring and developing countries as well, who are stranded in strife-torn Ukraine, if they want New Delhi’s assistance. Besides, PM Modi informed that the first consignment of relief supplies to deal with the humanitarian crisis on Ukraine’s borders would be despatched tomorrow.This meeting comes after it was decided in an earlier meeting to send four Union ministers to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to speed up the evacuation of stranded Indian students from Ukraine.At a meeting on Sunday led by Modi, it was decided to further enhance cooperation with Ukraine’s neighbours to facilitate the faster evacuation of Indian students from the strife-torn region. The prime minister also asserted that the safety and evacuation of Indians from Ukraine remains New Delhi’s topmost priority.Four Union ministers, Hardeep Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and VK Singh, will be going as “special envoys” of India to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries. While Scindia will look after evacuation efforts from Romania and Moldova, Rijiju will head to Slovakia.
