President Ram Nath Kovind’s address in Parliament: PM Modi hails ‘insightful speech’, ‘failure’, says Congress

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, said that President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to the joint sitting of the Parliament was an ‘insightful speech’ which reflects the collective vision of 130 crore Indians. Congress, on the other hand, slammed the government and said that President Ram Nath Kovind’s Parliament address highlighted the ‘failures’ of the government.

“An extensive and insightful speech by Rashtrapati Ji, which talks about India’s developmental strides and reflects the collective vision of 130 crore Indians to take our nation to newer heights in the times to come,” PM Narendra Modi said in a tweet.

There is no important issue in the President’s address: Congress

“Whatever they said has not been fulfilled. What Modi Ji has been saying outside, the President repeated those in his address. There is no important issue in the President’s address today and there is no thought. The President’s address is a speech of the government’s failure,” said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

Addressing the joint sitting of the Parliament ahead of Budget Session 2022, President Ram Nath Kovind, on Monday reviewed the initiatives taken by the government and highlighted the swift response of the government to COVID-19 management, internal security, and Make in India.

In his 50-minute address, President Kovind also highlighted the humanitarian work carried out by the government, including airlifting Indian citizens from war-torn Afghanistan. He also stressed the achievements of the government in developing self-reliance in defense.

Congress leader Manish Tewari, however, said that the President did not make any comment on China, Pakistan, or the recent incident in Nagaland that resulted in the death of civilians during an Army encounter.
