Promote use of electric vehicles to reduce pollution levels: Puvvada

Hyderabad: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar on Saturday underscored the need to promote the use of electric vehicles in the State to reduce the increasing pollution levels.
Participating in the New Year celebrations at the Transport department head office in Khairatabad here, he said the State government has brought a policy to encourage people to drive electric vehicles. The staff should not only evince interest in purchasing electric vehicles but also encourage their family members, relatives and friends to start using them, he said.
Extending New Year celebrations to employees in the department, the Minister said the department has introduced an online system to deliver various types of services to people. Plans have also been drawn up to extend online services to other areas, he said. These initiatives were aimed at preventing people from arriving at the office and helping them carry out their transactions online. Since the transport department was among the revenue generating wings to the government, the staff should work hard in achieving the targets.
