Roads and Buildings department gets Rs 8,327 crore

Hyderabad: With the State government laying emphasis on road connectivity and maintenance of roads, the Roads and Buildings department was allocated Rs 8,327 crore for executing different works. Of these, Rs 2,000 crore is being proposed for major district and other roads, Rs 1,542 crore maintenance of R&B and Rs 1,001 crore for maintenance of rural roads.
The Government has taken up double-laning of 1,835 kms and of this, already 1,651 kms of double-laning works has been completed. Similarly, all the routes connecting mandal and districts to State capital were being upgraded from single lane to double lane roads. Of the 5,574 kms works proposed under this initiative, construction of 4,380 kms is completed, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said in the Assembly.

Construction of the new Secretariat will be completed and it will be operational in the current year. The Government is also constructing modern, integrated Collectorate complexes in 30 districts. Already, 14 complexes were completed and six were ready to occupy. Another eight would be inaugurated shortly, he added.
