New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked media when asked about the recent lynching incidents in Punjab following sacrilege bids at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Opposition MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha marched from Gandhi statue in Parliament to Vijay Chowk in the national capital, demanding suspension of MoS Home Ajay Mishra Teni over Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

After the march, Rahul Gandhi told media that the Opposition will not stop protesting until Ajay Mishra Teni is arrested by police.

While he was concluding the briefing, a media person asked him about the two separate lynching incidents in Punjab and it apparently rattled the Congress leader.

He told the media person, “Sarkar ki dalaali mat kijiye. Issue ko divert mat karo.”

Rahul Gandhi’s attack on media has come in the wake of lynchings in Amritsar and Kapurthala in Punjab where the Congress is in power.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi took to his Twitter saying that the word lynching was practically unheard of before 2014 when the BJP came to power and went on to taunt the prime minister with a “Thank you Modiji”.

After his tweet, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back at the Congress leader and called his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi “father of mob lynching”.
