Telangana to go under lockdown? State cabinet holds meeting as COVID-19 cases soar

Bengaluru: As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the Telangana State Cabinet held a meeting on Monday afternoon. According to an official press release released on Sunday, the Cabinet would discuss the ongoing pandemic and other issues. The meeting is being held at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s official residence and new restrictions may be announced after the discussions conclude.

Telangana on Sunday recorded 2,047 new COVID-19 cases and three fatalities. With this, the active caseload in the state has now risen to 22,048. With cases rising sharply, the state government had last week extended the holidays to all educational institutions–private, aided and government, except medical colleges till January 30.
