Mumbai: Amidst the Tipu Sultan ground naming controversy, now BJP leader Ameet Satam has filed a police complaint against Mumbai’s Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh and Mayor Kishori Pednekar. The complaint has been filed at Juhu Police station and Satam alleges that his signature was forged in a BMC document.

Earlier, Shaikh and the Mumbai Mayor had claimed that Satam had initiated a proposal to name a road after Tipu Sultan when he was a corporator. The BJP MLA has refuted all these allegations providing documental evidence and threatened legal action against Shaikh and Pednekar.

“Aslam Shaikh and the Mumbai Mayor made a letter viral. The letter is a BMC proposal dated December 27, 2013 in which names of BJP corporators are mentioned and it says I initiated a proposal to name a road after Tipu Sultan. I have proof that the letter is freshly typed and my signatures are forged. The BMC has no such provisions,” Satam argued.

“This shows that forgery is being done by Congress leader Aslam Shaikh and the Mumbai Mayor. I have registered a police complaint against both of them. They are making a fake letter viral and defaming me and BJP,” Satam said.

“I would like to ask Aslam Shaikh on why did he endorse a mercy plea of 1992-93 Mumbai Blast accused Yakub Memon? Also, why has he been invited to the Cordelia Cruise prior to the recent drug scandal. What relation does Shaikh have with the cruise owners?” Satam asked.

The Mumbai Police had taken into custody Bajrang Dal and BJP party workers who were protesting at Malvani, Malad against the naming of ground after Tipu Sultan.

With mounting pressure, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Aditya Thackeray said that the BMC has not cleared any proposal to rename the ground after Tipu Sultan.

BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar opposed the naming of the ground after Tipu Sultan and assured to rename it on the name of

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj if the BJP came to power in the BMC.
