New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Jat Mahasabha president Anil Chaudhary said that the BJP should declare Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary as the Deputy CM’s face if it is really serious about getting the Jats on board.

Talking to Times Now, Chaudhary further said that other demands of the Jat community including reservation and equal representation can be sorted out later.

This development comes a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting with Jat leaders said that Jayant Chaudhary has chosen the wrong path.

Referring to the RLD-SP alliance for the Uttar Pradesh polls, Shah said that there are many possibilities after the polls and indicated that BJP is willing to welcome Jayant Chaudhary to the party.

BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who was also present at the meeting, said that people of the Jat community will speak to Jayant and BJP’s doors are always open for him.

During the meet, Jat leaders demanded Bharat Ratna for former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, reservation for Jats and proportionate representation in Central government and Uttar Pradesh government.

Meanwhile, reacting to Shah’s invitation, Jayant said the BJP should give this invitation to those 700 farmers’ families whose houses were destroyed during farmers protest.

“Don’t give this invitation to me. Give it to all those 700 farmers’ families whose houses you have destroyed,” RLD chief tweeted.

RLD has formed an alliance with Samajwadi Party to contest Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections that are scheduled to take place in seven phases beginning on February 10.

The alliance is expected to give a tough fight to the BJP in western UP, however, a BJP leader opined that farmers’ agitation against the three contentious farm laws will not impact BJP’s victory in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7.
