It has been reportedly decided that leaders of the group who are members of Congress Working Committee (CWC) will raise their demands for reforms in the Congress party during the CWC meeting that has been called to discuss the poll debacle in the five States Assembly elections.Congress faced a humiliating loss in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur in the elections, the results of which were declared on Thursday. While it lost to AAP in Punjab, in Goa, and other states, it was unable to put up a tough fight against BJP.Voices of dissent started emerging from within the party shortly after the outcome of Assembly polls became clear. “The results of 5 states have come against the expectations of the Congress party but we accept that we failed to get the blessings of the people. Sonia Gandhi has decided to convene Congress Working Committee meeting soon to introspect the results,” Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala said on Thursday.Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, though not a part of the G-23 group said that change is unavoidable if the Congress party wants to succeed.”All of us who believe in @INCIndia are hurting from the results of the recent assembly elections. It is time to reaffirm the idea of India that the Congress has stood for and the positive agenda it offers the nation – and to reform our organizational leadership in a manner that will reignite those ideas and inspire the people. One thing is clear – Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed,” Tharoor said in a tweet.
