Adams says 'God' told him he'd be mayor

“I’m the mayor of New York, and I’m perfectly imperfect,” he said at the time.
Besides questions about his diet, TheTeCHyWorLD has also pointed out inconsistencies about where the mayor lives — leading critics to wonder how else he might be misleading the public.
On Thursday Adams seemed reflective about his public stumbles — while saying he takes guidance from a higher being.
“There are days that the perfect people are going to judge me and tell me how to do it better. But I know and you know — they’re not the mayor,” he told faith leaders.
He always believed he would one day lead New York City during his time as a state senator and Brooklyn borough president, Adams recalled.

“I never doubted it for one moment,” he said. “God told me, ‘Eric, you’re going to be mayor.’”
Adams has previously described going on a “spiritual journey” when he traveled to Ghana in December and as a young man was mentored by a Brooklyn pastor who encouraged him to join the NYPD. He also practices meditation and has collected images of the Buddha during his travels.
Adams used biblical language Thursday to dismiss naysayers, explaining, “There will be those who will critique us. But let’s be clear: Lions don’t lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.”
Pastor Gilford Monrose will be executive director of the new faith-based office the mayor created. He is pastor of Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day in Brooklyn and worked for Adams when he was borough president. The office will be part of the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit.
