The party was thrown by the homeowners with the intent to celebrate the 18th birthday of their grandson. The event was recorded and went viral on TikTok with over 6.5 million views.Officials responded to a 911 call saying “people were dying,” said South Metro Fire spokesperson Connor Christian.Three teens were transported to a nearby hospital, where one sustained serious injuries. A building department official confirmed that the weight of the approximate 100 to 150 teenagers was the cause of the collapse, Christian said in a statement to USA TODAY. In addition to the floor collapsing, a natural gas line ruptured, Christian said. The line had to be shut off to prevent an explosion and fire.The party so included so many attendees because the address was leaked on social media, Henry said. “All of us at the county were deeply concerned to hear about this incident,” Luc Hatlestad, public information officer for Arapahoe County, said in a statement to USA TODAY. “County officials cannot comment on it, or on the factors that caused it, until the appropriate investigations are completed.”
