Srinagar: A terrorist was killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Awantipore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday. The security forces are conducting the search operation as another terrorist is believed to be hiding in the area.

The encounter started after the security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in Awantipore.

As the security forces gheraoed the terrorists, they came under a heavy fire that triggered the encounter. The terrorist was killed in retaliation by the forces.

Meanwhile, terrorists hurled a grenade at a bunker of Sashastra Seema Bal in the Ganderbal district. Fortunately. No one was injured in the grenade attack as the bomb exploded without causing any damage.

The SSB bunker in Chapergund area of Ganderbal was targeted.

“The grenade missed the target and exploded on road without causing any damage. The area has been surrounded for searches,” a police officer said.

LeT, TRF terrorists killed

On February 5, two terrorists of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) were killed by Srinagar Police after an encounter broke out in the Zakura area of Srinagar City.

One of the neutralised terrorists was identified as Ikhlaq Hajam, who was also involved in the killing of HC Ali Mohammad in Hassanpora.

Three Pakistan narcotic smugglers shot dead in Samba

On February 6, three Pakistani narcotic smugglers were gunned down by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The BSF recovered 36 packets of heroin from the eliminated smugglers.
