Congress Working Committee meeting to be held tomorrow to discuss poll debacle in 5 states

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will be held at 4 pm on Sunday to assess the party’s drubbing in the recently-concluded assembly elections and current political situation. The meeting will be convened by party chief Sonia Gandhi at the AICC office in Delhi, reported news agency ANI. The meeting comes after the Congress drew a blank in the assembly polls in five states — Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur. Bhupender Singh Hooda, Manish Tewari, Kapil Sibal, Anand Sharma and Akhilesh Prasad Singh were among those who were present at the meeting. Some other G-23 members have joined the meeting virtually, reported news agency PTI citing sources. During the meeting, the leaders discussed the way forward and revival of the Congress, which has become even “more marginalised and isolated”, said the report. After losing the assembly polls in all five states, Congress had said that the results have come against the party’s expectations.
