Mamata slams BJP as Guv unable to deliver speech due to Oppn MLAs’ protest

Photo : ANIKolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar couldn’t deliver his speech in the state Assembly due to protest by the Opposition MLAs. “What BJP did today in Bengal assembly is a shame for democracy,” PTI quoted Banerjee as saying. Adding, “We urged the Governor to read at least one line from his speech and table it in House, he kept our request.”Dhankhar, who arrived at the assembly at 2 pm to deliver the inaugural address, could not do it as BJP legislators carrying posters and photographs of alleged victims of civic poll violence came down to the well to stage a protest. The governor pleaded with the MLAs of the saffron party to let the proceedings begin but they remained adamant. The BJP MLAs raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans.
