Five of the nine Supreme Court justices attended President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.
Justices Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts were at the Capitol for the president’s speech.
It’s not unusual for justices to skip the event — which Roberts himself has called a partisan “pep rally.” Just four justices attended former President Donald Trump’s 2019 State of the Union address.
