Hyderabad: Contrary to popular belief, women in India are looking for growth opportunities and want to take on more responsibility within the company, a global study revealed.
According to a study by HP Inc, 92 per cent of women respondents in India confirmed receiving a promotion last year as compared to 40 per cent and 63 per cent from the US and UK respectively. Interestingly, Indian women even surpassed their male counterparts with only 68 per cent of men receiving promotions last year.

Respondents from India want a promotion not just for higher salary but also to gain more influence in their company by taking on more responsibility and being part of larger decisions that impact the company. The survey findings also revealed that 71 per cent of Indian women strongly feel that companies have been more proactive in combating gender discrimination than before.
Many employees believe that a hybrid work model is most beneficial for women possibly because it allows for both in-person time and flexibility. In India, Gen Z (41 per cent) and Millennials (36 per cent) prefer hybrid as the most suitable work model, the study informed.
For those who plan to leave, 1 in 3 employees in India desire a better work-life balance, more autonomy, and higher salaries are the top reasons. While most global counterparts are willing to offer higher wages for employee retention, 53 per cent of Indian employees prefer greater work flexibility over higher salaries to retain them.
