Lucknow: A huge controversy has erupted ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur in Punjab. The incident happened when some miscreants forcibly asked BJP workers to remove all posters of PM Modi which were pasted at several places in a village in Ferozepur.

BJP leaders have strongly reacted to the incident and demanded action against the miscreants.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for PM Modi’s January 5 rally in Ferozepur. Punjab along with Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur will go to elections early this year.

On January 5, PM Modi will kickstart BJP’s poll campaign for Punjab Assembly elections 2022.

During his visit, the prime minister will be laying the foundation stones of development projects worth over Rs 42,750 crore, including the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and a PGI satellite centre.

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has confirmed that besides PM Modi, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya will be present at the ceremony.

The PGIMER’s satellite centre will be constructed with a budget of Rs 490.5 crore and will have 100 beds, including 30 intensive care and high dependency beds.

PM will lay the foundation stone of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. Once completed, the expressway will halve the travel time for Delhi to Amritsar and Delhi to Katra.

The Greenfield Expressway will connect key Sikh religious sites at Sultanpur Lodhi, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran and the holy Hindu shrine of Vaishno Devi in Katra. The expressway will also connect key economic centres like Ambala Chandigarh, Mohali, Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Kathua and Samba in the states/UTs of Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, the PMO informed.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a new Broad Gauge railway line between Mukerian and Talwara of around 27 Km in length, to be built at a cost of over Rs 410 crore.

Amritsar state BJP president Ashwani Sharma visited Amritsar on January 2 to take stock of preparations for PM Modi’s rally in Ferozepur. BJP national secretary and Punjab co-incharge Narender Singh Raina and Amritsar Lok Sabha in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna also accompanied Sharma to take stock of the preparedness.

Punjab polls 2022 will see ruling Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress participating in the contest.
