New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya is expected to chair a meeting with state health ministers and officials to review the COVID-19 situation across the country through a video conference on January 10 (Monday).
The possible meeting assumes significance as states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal and others have been reporting a surge in COVID-19 cases in the last 10 days.
Fuelled by the Omicron variant, a total of 1,59,632 new coronavirus infections were reported in the country, according to Union health ministry data updated at 8 am on January 9, 2021.
Besides contemplating on the rising coronavirus infections, the Union health minister will also deliberate on the ongoing vaccination programme against the highly contagious virus.
