Varanasi: The Apna Dal (Kameravadi), headed by Krishna Patel, mother of Union Minister Anupriya Patel, is unlikely to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with the Samajwadi Party over differences on the issue of seat sharing.

Pankaj Patel, Apna Dal (K) general secretary said that the party is not satisfied with the ticket distribution by the Samajwadi Party. Krishna Patel-led party was reportedly promised 18 seats.

The party has also expressed dismay over the allocation of Sirathu Assembly seat to Krishna Patel’s daughter Pallavi Patel.

Apna Dal has two factions – Apna Dal (S) which has forged an alliance with the BJP, and the Apna Dal (Kameravadi) which was in talks with the Akhilesh Yadav-led party. Apna Dal (S) is headed by Anupriya Patel.

In November last year, Krishna Patel had announced her party’s alliance with Samajwadi Party after meeting party president Akhilesh Yadav.

“We are ready to take all steps to oust the BJP from power,” she had said.

Uttar Pradesh is set to go to polls in seven phases on – February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7. Results will be declared on March 10
