Patna: Amid a dip in fresh coronavirus infection, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announces the withdrawal of all COVID-induced restrictions in the state from February 14.

“The current status of corona infection was reviewed today. In view of the continuous decrease in corona infection, all types of restrictions have been lifted from February 14 till further orders,” the Bihar chief minister said in a tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).

CM Nitish Kumar further stated that now all the activities will operate normally with COVID friendly behavior and compliance with the prescribed standard operating procedure. “The district officials have been authorised to impose restrictions as per the local circumstances,” he said.

The Bihar chief minister also urged people to take precautions and use masks while going out of the house along with social distancing.

As many as 174 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours in Bihar, according to the state health department. With fresh cases, the total number of active patients in the state has reached 1346.

A total of 8,15,160 COVID patients have been recovered from the illness during the same period, taking the coronavirus recovery rate in the state to 98.35 per cent, the health department said.

The state has tested 1,35,059 samples in the last 24 hours, it added.
