Lucknow: In what can come as a jolt to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), party MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s son Mayank Joshi may be fielded by Samajwadi Party from Lucknow Cantonment Assembly seat in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections 2022, sources said on Wednesday. The reports of Mayank joining Akhilesh Yadav’s outfit emerged after the saffron party fielded Lucknow (central) MLA and minister Brijesh Pathak from the Lucknow Cantonment seat.

Though Akhilesh-headed SP has declared all its candidates for Assembly segments in the Lucknow area, reports said that one of the candidates is likely to be shifted to some other seat to make way for Mayank Joshi.

If Mayank Joshi decided to join the SP, it would cause major embarrassment for the ruling BJP as his mother Rita Bahuguna Joshi is a sitting BJP MP from Allahabad.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Pary today announced the candidature of Swami Prasad Maurya and senior party leader Abhishek Mishra from Fazilnagar (Kushinagar) and Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow constituencies respectively.
