New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat on Saturday said that Congress’ form is slightly down in national politics but the party will regain it soon.

The former Uttarakhand chief minister, however, said that the party’s form is good in the state which is set to hold polls next month.

“…Sometimes batsman is out of form, Congress’ form is slightly down now. I can’t say that the party is out of form. We will regain it, I want to assure people of the country. I said this in the context of the entire country. In Uttarakhand we are in form, we have good bench strength of in-form batsmen here,” he told ANI.

Rawat has been given the task of leading the Congress’ election campaign in Uttarakhand which will hold polls on February 14.

last month, the senior party leader had created a flutter in the political circles, alleging non-cooperation from his organisation and noting that he sometimes feels it is time for him to rest.

In a series of tweets in Hindi, Rawat said, “Isn’t it strange that the organisational structure at most places, instead of extending a helping hand, is standing with its head turned away or playing a negative role at a time when I have to swim across the ocean of elections.”

“The powers that be have left crocodiles there. People on whose orders I have to swim, their nominees are tying up my hands and feet. I am invaded by thoughts. A voice from within sometimes tells me it is enough Harish Rawat, you have swam long. It is time to rest. I am in a dilemma. The new year may show me the way,” he had said.
