Kannur: A CPI(M) worker was allegedly hacked to death at Punnol in Kerala’s Kannur district on Monday night.

The CPI(M) called it a “political murder” and blamed RSS and BJP workers for its worker’s death.

Korambil Haridas, 54 years, was allegedly killed at around 1:30 am while he was returning home from work. Haridas, a fisherman at New Mahe near Thalassery, was an active member of the CPI(M).

As per reports, a group of people allegedly attacked him in front of his house. One of his legs was chopped, and multiple stab wounds were found on his body, police said.

He was rushed to a hospital in Thalassery by some locals, but could not be saved.

The CP(M) has planned to hold protests in New Mahe and Thalassery areas against the alleged murder.
