Fissures in Telangana Congress to the fore

Hyderabad: Despite the Congress State unit’s claims of unity among leaders, fissures continue to surface unabated. So much so that leaders have begun organising events and programmes without any regard for party leadership and its programmes.
All these disturbances are out in the open even after AICC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore’s repeated instructions to the leaders to refrain from speaking about party affairs in public domain. This apart, many leaders are maintaining a strategic distance from the party programmes.

This was evident at the party’s Mana Ooru – Mana Poru public meeting held at Parigi. Senior leaders including Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and others did not attend the meeting, citing different reasons, according to party sources.
Though the Congress leaders are trying to brush the issues under the carpet using different excuses, things are quite evident about what exactly is happening, or not happening. Vikramarka is conducting People’s March in Madhira constituency. On Monday, he toured Gokinapalli village, Mudigonda mandal and interacted with local residents. Interestingly, not many senior leaders from Hyderabad participated in the programme so far.
“The CLP leader is conducting People’s March in Madhira constituency in his individual capacity and party leaders will take a call on it shortly,” said a senior leader from Congress party.
On the other hand, Sangareddy MLA and TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy has already announced his decision to quit the party. He has sought appointment with Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to share his problems with the State unit. The Sangareddy MLA had also announced that he would be organising a public meeting in his constituency and would invite Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, this after senior party leaders persuaded him not to take any hasty decision.
