Goa TMC releases teaser of its campaign anthem ahead of Assembly elections – watch

Panaji, Goa: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) unit of Goa on Saturday released the teaser of its campaign anthem.

Taking to Twitter, the Goa TMC announced that the anthem will be released soon. “An anthem that will unite Goa & all Goemkars, releasing soon. Enjoy this little teaser till then! (sic)” it tweeted.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) earlier today announced the single-phase election schedule for Goa that will go to the polls on February 14. According to the EC, a notification will be released in this regard on January 21.

The elections will be held to elect 40 members of the Legislative Assembly in Goa. The tenure of the current Legislative Assembly in Goa is scheduled to end on March 15, 2022.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main Opposition Congress remain principal contenders for the Assembly elections in the state, even as they try to get allies to fight the intense, multi-cornered battle.

TMC enters poll fray in Goa

Amid defections from the grand old party to the ruling BJP,  the Trinamool Congress (TMC) also announced its arrival by getting senior Congress leader and former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro on board. 

Tennis star Leander Paes, who lives in Assolna in South Goa, also joined the party during TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee’s visit to the state in October and has since been campaigning door-to-door.
