Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday lauded his state government and claimed that Goans haven’t seen the kind of development they saw in the last 10 years.

He said that the double-engine government is BJP’s advantage in Goa and the saffron party will once again form government in the state.

While speaking to Times Now, Pramod Sawant said, “There are no charges of corruption against me or my government. People have seen the transparent govt and they will vote us into power once again.”

“Our advantage is the double-engine govt. For the past 5 years, we have done real work in Goa. This is what we show to the people as our report card,” he asserted.

Talking about other Assembly elections next month, Sawant said that the NDA governments will come back to power in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand.

He, however, admitted that the situation will be tricky in Punjab.

When asked about the situation of former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar, the Goa Chief Minister iterated that junior Parrikar should have complied with the party leadership as it was ready to offer him other seats.

On political leaders and parties rushing to Goa for campaigning, Sawant said, “Political tourism has increased in Goa because the elections are approaching. For the past 50 years, Goans haven’t seen the kind of development they saw in the past 10 years under BJP.”

Reacting to why BJP is not projecting Pramod Sawant as the CM face for the upcoming Goa elections, he said, “Every election campaign in Goa is currently happening under my leadership but party leadership will take a decision on that.”

The Goa CM was also asked why the BJP is not pushing for a beef ban in Goa when it has been doing the same in other states.

“We should consider the situation of minorities in Goa too. It’s not possible to ban beef that they have been consuming for generations,” replied Pramod Sawant.

Goa will go to the Assembly polls on February 14 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
