Haryana extends COVID curbs till February 10; malls, markets allowed to open till 7 pm

Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Wednesday extended existing COVID restrictions in the state till February 10 and also announced fresh restrictions.

In its order, the state government also said that malls and markets are allowed to open till 7 pm. However, shops of essential supplies like milk and medical shops are permitted to open at all times.

“Keeping in view the present state of the pandemic in the state… the guidelines of ‘Mahamari Alert-Surakhsit Haryana’ has been extended upto 10.02.2022 (05:00 am),” the order read.

“It is further directed that Malls and Markets are allowed to open up to 07:00 PM. However, shops of essential supplies like milk/ medical shops are allowed to open at all times to enable them to serve the public at large,” it added.

The state on Wednesday reported seven deaths due to coronavirus and 6,351 fresh cases of the disease, taking the state’s infection count to 9,27,206.

So far, 10,219 people have succumbed to the infection in the state while the total active COVID cases stood at 39,565, according to a Health Department bulletin.

Gurugram, the worst-hit district, logged 2,261 fresh cases while Faridabad, Panchkula, Ambala and Rohtak reported 668, 387, 277 and 243 daily infections, respectively,  as per the bulletin.

One each death was reported from Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Karnal, Panchkula, Kurukshetra and Kaithal.
