India sees slight dip in daily COVID-19 infections, records 2.09 lakh new cases, 959 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: India witnessed a slight dip in daily coronavirus infections with as many as 2,09,918 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, as per the latest bulleting shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

A total of 959 deaths and 2,62,628 recoveries were also reported during the same time, the health ministry said. With this, the daily COVID-19 positivity rate in the country has reached 15.77 per cent. 

The new cases pushed the country’s overall COVID-19 count to 4,13,02,440, while the death toll has surged to 4,95,050 as more people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

Currently, the country has 18,31,268 active COVID-19 cases and comprises 4.43 per cent of the total infections. The recovery rate in India stands at 94.37 per cent, according to the health ministry.

‘India’s vaccination coverage crosses 166.03 cr’

The COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 166.03 crore in the country so far. The total jabs administered in the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive stand at 1,66,03,96,227.

 With 75 per cent of all adults fully vaccinated, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Sunday congratulated fellow citizens for this “momentous feat” and said he is proud of all those who are making the vaccination drive a success.
