Mumbai: Looking to stitch an anti-BJP front, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will meet his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Sunday.

During his day-long visit to Mumbai, KCR will meet Thackeray at his residence in the afternoon and have lunch with him. After meeting the Maharashtra CM, Rao will head to Pawar’s residence where the two leaders are likely to discuss national political issues.

The Telangana Chief Minister would return to Hyderabad in the evening, informed the TRS.

The meeting comes amid the non-BJP ruled states accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre of destroying the federal structure of the country.

KCR recently slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party saying that the saffron party should be “expelled” from the country or else the nation will be “ruined”.

The Telangana CM had also called for political forces to come together to “oust” the BJP from power. In an effort to bring various opposition parties together against the BJP, KCR is also planning to meet his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee.

Earlier on Tuesday, former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Devegowda had extended support to KCR for the initiative.

Non-BJP CMs to meet soon: Stalin

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin had also recently tweeted of a possible convention of chief ministers in New Delhi soon. Stalin had said that he spoke to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee earlier in the day and a decision was taken to hold a meeting.

“Beloved Didi @MamataOfficial telephoned me to share her concern and anguish on the Constitutional overstepping and brazen misuse of power by the Governors of non-BJP ruled states. She suggested for a meeting of Opposition CMs (sic),” he had tweeted.

Adding, “I assured her of DMK’s commitment to uphold State autonomy. Convention of Opposition CMs will soon happen out of Delhi! (sic)”.
