Kishan Bharwad murder case: Gujarat ATS arrests two Maulanas on suspicion of acts of terrorism

Ahmedabad: In the latest development in the sensational Kishan Bharwad murder case, Gujarat ATS arrested Maulana Ayub and Maulana Qamargani Usmani on suspicion of acts of terrorism. The ATS has added a Section of the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act 3(1)(1) and 3(2) Unlawful Activities Prevention Act against the accused.

Kishan Bharwad (27) was shot dead in Ahmedabad’s Dhandhuka area by bike-borne assailants over an objectionable Facebook post that allegedly hurt Muslim sentiments.

Maulana Qamar Gani Usmani was arrested from Delhi by the Gujarat ATS on January 30 in connection with the sensational murder of the 27-year-old.

The Rajkot Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested Azim Bashir, accused of supplying the pistol and cartridges to Usmani, was arrested Mitana village of Tankara in Rajkot district. Bashir hails from Mitana village of Tankara in Rajkot.

The ATS had demanded a 14-day remand for both the accused. The investigating officers wanted to question Bashir to investigate the source of weapon that he had given to Ayub to kill Bharwad.

Bharwad was allegedly shot dead by Shabbir Chopda.
